Learning does not just happen at school during school hours. We aim to establish an effective home-school partnership by which homework, research and private study extend from and beyond class work. Study at home enhances, consolidates and reinforces the learning at school.
We assist families in supporting their children’s learning at home in a variety of ways. Family workshops and open mornings enable parents to find out how we teach aspects of the curriculum, and ways in which they can support.
In the primary years, a reading diary is a source of parental and school communication where teachers share the child’s reading targets, to help families to support the child at home. Secondary age students use a weekly planner for similar purposes.
Regular homework reinforces what the students have learned during the week, and informs families about curriculum coverage.
